Founded in 2004, Sand Hill provides five-star, full-service landscaping, hardscaping, gardening and lawn services. We’ll collaborate with you to transform your outdoor living area into a space that’s not only beautiful but also beneficial for our planet.

Our History

Carol Lawless founded Sand Hill Fine Gardening & Landscaping in 2004, but she started her horticulture career in the late 1980s working in the Bicentennial Garden in Greensboro. Carol was one of four people who developed the Greensboro Arboretum in Lindley Park from the ground up. Before starting Sand Hill, Carol worked as a landscape supervisor for the City of Greensboro, overseeing the city government building grounds. An Ohio native, Carol studied at Bowling Green State University. The name Sand Hill comes from the road Carol lived on near the Ohio River where she imagined living off the grid. Naming her business Sand Hill was a way to bring that dream of sustainability with her to North Carolina.

Sand Hill Fine Gardening is a landscaping company dedicated to the earth and all of its inhabitants. We create outdoor living spaces that are beautiful places for our clients as well as hospitable homes for butterflies, bees, birds, worms and other such creatures. We start by asking questions and listening to our clients, and then working hard to deliver the very highest quality gardening and landscaping services. You can count on us to be creative, efficient, respectful and responsive.
